Graveyard Keeper 2 had four updates in its first week. Several of them fixed problems that looked exactly like player mistakes: a Study Table that took items and paid nothing, kitchen zombies that lost ingredients, bags whose extra slots were ignored, a potter’s wheel that froze mid-batch. If you hit one of those before updating, nothing you did would have fixed it.
So when something in the game seems broken, check your version before tearing down a workstation or restarting a quest chain. The summaries below cover the changes that affect how you play; the full official notes are linked at the bottom of the page.
A good habit after any update: test one cheap item at the station that was misbehaving before you commit valuable materials to it. If it works, carry on; if not, the problem is probably on your side, and the related guide will help you find it.
Research, crafting and progression fixes
The biggest gameplay fix so far. It targeted the research loop and several quest chains that could stall.
- Study Table science rewards fixed, along with some research subjects that could not be studied.
- Polished stone became obtainable.
- The potter’s wheel stuck-crafting issue was addressed.
- Central Districts Purge progression, iron delivery quests and the PR Machine received fixes.
- Jack’s requested hand-in items were corrected.
What to do
- If your Study Table ate items without paying Science, try one cheap item after updating.
- If Jack or an iron delivery quest seemed stuck, hand the items in again on the current version.
Zombie kitchens and inventory fixes
A quality-of-life update focused on kitchen workers, inventory space and a few physical snags.
- Kitchen zombie ingredient loss and placement issues were addressed.
- Extra bag slots now work for pickups and vendor purchases when your backpack is full.
- Stuck crop beds and several collision problems were fixed.
- Steam PC gained an in-game bug-report feature.
What to do
- Rebuild nothing in the kitchen until you have checked you are on 1.006 or later.
- If a vendor refused a purchase with a bag that had space, try again after updating.
Stations, morgue and balance changes
The first full patch after launch. It fixed several morgue and resurrection bugs and rebalanced some crafting costs.
- Study Table no longer locks after an item is inserted.
- Crematorium no longer freezes with a corpse on the table.
- Prepared bodies and straps no longer reset on the Resurrection Table when you leave the morgue.
- Fixed cases where zombies could not be resurrected despite meeting the requirements.
- Pending zombie crafts now show when a worker’s skill is too low, with working lock and wait icons.
- Tree log yield from sawing was increased.
- Kiln and Furnace craft and fuel costs were rebalanced.
- Alchemy tower performance improved, and buildings in the resurrection zone can be demolished again.
What to do
- Recipe numbers for the kiln and furnace from launch week may be out of date; trust your recipe window.
- If a zombie bench looks idle, look for the new pending icon, which points to a mastery problem.
Launch-day hotfix
A small fix released on launch day.
- Fixed an issue that prevented pre-order bonus content from appearing in some existing save files.
What to do
- If you pre-ordered but your bonus content was missing from an existing save, install the hotfix before checking that save again. This fix restores missing bonuses; it does not remove content from players who did not pre-order.
Fixes that change a guide’s answer
These are the fixes most likely to explain a problem you are having. If your symptom is in the first column and your game is older than the version in the second, update first.

Launch timeline
For context, here is how the first weeks went. The demo arrived on Steam, Xbox, PlayStation and Nintendo Switch 2 eight days before launch, and its saves carry over to the full game. The release itself landed on every platform at once, and two days later the developers announced 400,000 copies sold with 84 percent positive Steam reviews.
Alongside the patches, the developers posted several longer pieces about the game’s design, including a look at combat, town liberation and zombie squads just before launch. Those posts are worth reading if you want to know what the systems are meant to do, not just how they behave.
| Date | Event |

Checking your version and platform timing
On Steam, updates download automatically when the game is closed, and the version shows on the main menu. If an update seems missing, restart Steam and let it finish before launching. On consoles, patches go through each platform’s certification and can arrive a few days after the Steam release, so a fix listed here may not be on your console yet.
Update 1.006 also added an in-game bug-report option on Steam PC. If you find something that looks like a genuine bug, reporting it from inside the game sends the developers the details they need.
Field note: Saves carry over between updates. You do not need to start a new game to get a fix, though a stuck quest may need you to repeat its last step after updating.
Common questions
What is the latest Graveyard Keeper 2 update?+
This page covers updates up to 1.007, released on September 28, 2026. Check the official announcements for anything newer.
Do I need a new save after an update?+
No. Saves carry over. A stuck quest step may need repeating once you are on the fixed version.
Why does my console not have the fix yet?+
Console patches go through platform certification and can arrive later than on Steam.
Is this page updated automatically?+
No. It is a hand-written summary of the changes that affect play, reviewed after each official update.
Which update fixed the Study Table?+
Two of them. 1.005 stopped the table locking after an item was inserted, and 1.007 fixed it not paying Science and some items that could not be studied.
Did any update change recipe costs?+
Yes. 1.005 rebalanced kiln and furnace craft and fuel costs and increased log yield from sawing. Use the numbers in your own recipe window.
