Zombies & automation

Make your first zombie

Bodies, collars, Reanimation Liquid and the Envy-day device: everything the Resurrection Table checks before a corpse gets up and goes to work.

Walkthrough
Zombies & automation

Fix an idle zombie

An idle zombie is nearly always missing a tool, mastery, materials or space for its output. Check those four in order and most stalls clear in minutes.

Troubleshooting
Crafting & resources

Get iron ore and ingots

Where iron ore comes from, how to turn it into ingots, and how to set up a Zombie Miner so you never hunt for rocks again.

Troubleshooting
Zombies & automation

Plan a working factory

How to unlock the factory under your house, lay conveyors that actually move items, and build a line you can debug when it stops.

Troubleshooting
Crafting & resources

Pick the right smithy

The game has a Smithy you shop at and a Smithy you craft at. What each sells or makes, and how to tell which one your quest means before spending kits.

Troubleshooting
Getting started

Make Dream Dust

Dream Dust is one green rune plus one blue rune. Study Water and Blood, put a flask on the shelf, mix, and know what to check when the lab refuses.

Walkthrough
Getting started

Fix a mastery requirement

Mastery decides whether a job starts, how fast it goes and how many stars it earns. Every source of points, and the quickest way to close a gap.

Troubleshooting
Getting started

Get science for research

Science comes from breaking items down at the Study Table, and a Science Kit is worth six times its paper. The whole research loop, plus the launch bug that ate everyone’s rewards.

Troubleshooting
Crafting & resources

Understand alchemy runes

Alchemy is addition: red, green and blue runes summed per colour and matched to a target. Learn the rules once and you can work out any recipe yourself.

Mechanics
Town & church

Use Town Gratitude well

Each Town Gratitude adds 5 happiness, but anything above your town quality is thrown away. When to use it, and how to raise the ceiling.

Mechanics
Town & church

Earn Faith from sermons

Faith comes from one sermon a week, on Wrath, and scales with attendance, which happiness and church quality both cap. Filling the pews, choosing a prayer and spending the Faith.

Mechanics
Town & church

Raise graveyard quality

A grave scores its decorations minus red skulls, capped by white skulls. Fix the body and the stone together, and stop open pits from dragging the total down.

Mechanics
Getting started

Start your first week

What to grab, what to research and what to ignore in your first in-game week, from the starting chests to your first sermon.

Walkthrough
Getting started

Learn the six-day week

Gluttony, Sloth, Lust, Envy, Pride, Wrath. What happens on each day, how long a day really lasts, and a routine that stops you missing resurrection or Mass.

Mechanics
Getting started

Fix a short energy bar

Your maximum energy is 100 minus your insanity. If food stops filling the bar, the ceiling has dropped. What pushes each number up and what brings it back down.

Troubleshooting
Getting started

Sort inventory and bags

Backpack, toolbar, hot bar and nine kinds of bag, each with its own rules. What goes where, which bag to buy first, and the traps that delete items.

Troubleshooting

Finish Jack in a Boat

Planks, Bronze Details and two rowers who only listen to someone the village trusts. The full checklist, plus what happens after Jack sails.

Where to get a rod, which bait unlocks which fish, where each species lives, and how to win the reel-and-release minigame without snapping the line.

Mechanics
Crafting & resources

Grow better harvests

Four seeds per bed, twelve growth steps, and two different skills deciding how it goes. Planting, bed skill, fertilizer, upgrades, the orchard and the vineyard.

Mechanics
Town & church

Start and win battles

A battle stays locked until you have a sword and armor equipped, it is the right day, and your squads meet its defence power. How to clear each check, then hold the flags.

Troubleshooting
Town & church

Trade without losing money

Every trader has a short buy list, a daily purse and prices that move with stock. Who buys what, how prices are worked out, and selling a big batch without wasting it.

Mechanics
Getting started

Earn the right tech points

Red for hands and materials, green for nature, blue for the spiritual side. Where each colour comes from, why blue runs out first, and what a question-mark node really means.

Work fills inspirations, claiming them gives branch experience, and branch levels give talent points. The full chain, unlocking it on day one, and talents worth taking first.

Mechanics
Town & church

Raise reputation

Six named characters each keep their own reputation, and everyone else shares one village pool. How each one rises, the thresholds that matter, and why the tech tree sometimes ignores you.

Mechanics
Crafting & resources

Make three-star items

Stars are earned swing by swing. Meet the recipe’s mastery and every step succeeds; fall short and you risk fewer stars or nothing at all. The grading rules, with examples.

Change your appearance

Hair, beard and colours are free from the start; all you need is a working mirror. The dresser repair, its materials, and the quest behind every outfit.

THE GAME

Graveyard Keeper 2 in a nutshell

Graveyard Keeper 2 is the sequel to Lazy Bear Games’ medieval cemetery sim, published by tinyBuild and released on September 22, 2026. You are once again the keeper of a graveyard, which means bodies, autopsies and burials, but the sequel adds a lot on top: a town to rebuild plot by plot, zombie workers to automate whole production chains, a church that runs on happiness, and tactical battles against the undead.

It launched on PC and consoles at the same time. Saves from the demo carry over to the full game, and two days after launch the developers announced 400,000 copies sold with 84 percent positive reviews on Steam. The game has had several patches since, and the patch notes page on this site keeps track of the fixes that change how you play.

THE LOOP

What a week in the game looks like

The game runs on a six-day week, and each day has a job that only happens then. Bodies arrive on Gluttony, Lust and Pride. Most battles start on Sloth. The resurrection device works on Envy. Town orders come on Pride, and the weekly sermon is on Wrath. A full week is only 45 real minutes, so the calendar shapes everything.

In between, you do the work. Autopsy each body, bury it well or cremate it, and sell the certificate. Grow wheat, saw planks, smelt bronze, and spend technology points on the next unlock. Once the Plague Doctor gives you your first zombies, you start handing that work over, and the game turns into a puzzle about tools, mastery and supply chains.

Later the town opens. You rebuild shops, fill orders from a factory under your house, and keep happiness up so the church fills on Wrath. The guides on this site are organised around exactly those stages.

VETERANS

Coming from the first Graveyard Keeper?

A lot will feel familiar: the morgue, red and white skulls, the church, the tech tree, and zombies doing the dull jobs. The details have changed enough to catch out experienced players, though. The sequel moved from 2D to 3D and rebuilt most systems along the way.

Alchemy is now plain rune arithmetic: add up red, green and blue and match a target. Zombies are raised in batches on Envy, need a collar that covers their red skulls, and have their own talent trees. There is a whole town to rebuild, a factory to automate, and battles where your zombies fight in squads. Old guides that talk about tier-two workstations from the first game will usually point you the wrong way.

If you are a veteran, the zombie, alchemy and combat guides are the ones most likely to save you time.

PICK A STARTING POINT

Where to start on this site

Most people arrive with one specific problem, and the search box above is the quickest route. If you would rather read in order, these three paths cover the usual journey through the game.

THE USUAL SUSPECTS

The roadblocks almost everyone hits

A few problems come up again and again in Steam discussions and community threads. Most of them are not bugs; they are rules the game does not explain very loudly. A zombie only works with materials inside its bench. Tools only count toward mastery when they are on the toolbar. The twins only row Jack’s boat once village reputation reaches 10. Happiness above your town quality is simply thrown away.

Others really were bugs. The Study Table not paying Science, kitchen zombies losing ingredients and extra bag slots being ignored were all fixed in the first week of patches. When something seems broken, it is worth checking your version first.

  • Recipe will not start: check mastery and which tools are on the toolbar.
  • Body will not rise: it is not Envy yet, or the device has not recharged.
  • Donkey did not come: your morgue was full at 13:12.
  • Energy bar looks short: insanity is lowering the cap, and food will not fix it.
ABOUT THESE GUIDES

How the guides are put together

Every guide answers one question first, in a short paragraph at the top, then gives a checklist and the detail behind it. Recipes, costs and timings are cross-checked against the community’s data-mined database, other guide sites and the official patch notes, and each page lists its sources at the bottom so you can check the numbers yourself.

Pages are updated when a patch changes something. If an answer differs from what you see in your game, the recipe window in your own build has the final word, and the about page explains how to tell us.

Quick answers about the game

When did Graveyard Keeper 2 come out?+

September 22, 2026, on PC and consoles at the same time.

Which platforms is it on?+

PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2 and Nintendo Switch.

Does my demo save carry over?+

Yes. The developers confirmed that demo progress transfers to the full game.

Is this an official site?+

No. Keeper’s Field Guide is an independent fan site and is not affiliated with Lazy Bear Games or tinyBuild.

Do the guides cover consoles?+

The mechanics are the same on every platform, but patches sometimes arrive on consoles later than on Steam. Check your version when a guide mentions a fix.

How long is a day in Graveyard Keeper 2?+

An in-game day lasts 7.5 real minutes, so the six-day week takes 45 minutes. That is why the week planner and the days-of-the-week guide are worth a look early on.

Where should a new player start?+

With the beginner guide for your first week, then the days-of-the-week guide. Between them they cover the starting chests, the first technologies, your first body and the weekly calendar.
